Who will Test my Hearing?
Your hearing will be evaluated by a state licensed and nationally certified (by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) audiologist. An audiologist is a professional who evaluates, diagnoses, and provides prevention and rehabilitation to individuals with hearing loss and balance problems. Audiologists must have received a master’s and/or doctoral degree from an accredited university graduate program. Audiologists complete a fellowship year of supervised clinical experience and must be licensed by the state in which they work. In order to maintain both New York State licensure and national certification, audiologists must complete annual, ongoing continuing education.
